CNN adds Palestinian remarks to US veto story, two days later

CNN.com added balance to its story 'U.S. vetoes U.N. condemnation of Israel's Gaza strikes' by inserting Palestinian quotations two days after running the story. The original story did not contain the Palestinian remarks, but quoted US Ambassador to the UN John Bolton at length.

cnnX exposed the biased article and emailed CNN Vice President of News Standards and Practice Rick Davis requesting an explanation. Mr. Davis has yet to reply, but a few hours after sending the email, the story was updated with a Palestinian response.

The updated story is more balanced than the original, but is still slanted. There are seven paragraphs with US or Israeli quotations and two with Palestinian quotes. It will unlikely receive the same exposure as the original version, as the US veto is now old news.
